Church Bulletins

The new organ arrived today - initial response has been ecstatic - see attached picture.  We are now thinking about how to celebrate it's arrival appropriately - watch this space!  Many thanks to those who have helped us with this undertaking - we still need to do some restoration work on the site of the old organ but, as our excellent stonemason said, it will keep until winter comes.

I think it is fair to say that the Sheep Dog Trials were a great succes, certainly in terms of attendance and catering and bar sales. The final figures have yet to be revealed but I suspect it will have been a record year with more stalls than ever and the Pimms went down a storm on a very hot day - huge thanks are due to the organising committee.

One for your diaries - I have been asked to set up a fundraiser for Devon Historic Churches Trust. I have asked Alison Smith, the virtuoso classical guitarist (www.alisonsmithguitar.com), if she would be willing to play for us and she has agreed - she is a super musician.  I have worked with her before when she very gamely played at Sampford Spiney on a positively arctic night when we were raising money to renew the central heating in an off the shoulder frock – the audience were all in their overcoats!   What I propose is to run a concert followed by cheese and wine on Saturday 25 October in St Paul’s, Yelverton at £15 per head. I would plan to open the bar at 6.30pm, begin the concert at 7pm (two halves of 45 minutes plus intermission) followed by cheese and wine.  Tickets are now on sale from me.
